In the next Ekiti State governorship election, which is set for Saturday, June 20, 2026, the League of Veteran Journalists in Ekiti State has urged all parties involved, especially politicians and other participants, to prevent violence and guarantee a free and fair election.
The call was included in a statement released on Wednesday during a monthly meeting at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Center in Ado Ekiti.
The League, which is chaired by Prince Kayode Oni, noted that Ekiti has maintained political stability for a considerable amount of time and expressed their desire for this trend to continue.
All eyes are on the state’s citizens, the seasoned journalists emphasised.
Additionally, they took the opportunity to urge INEC, the Independent National Electoral Commission, “to conduct the governorship election according to the rules without bias.”
