According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the arrest of Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, a social media influencer, was the result of several petitions that were filed with the commission.
Dele Oyewale, the anti-graft agency’s spokeswoman, provided BBC News Pidgin with confirmation on Monday.
He claims that after receiving accusations from multiple petitioners alleging cyberstalking, VeryDarkMan was placed under arrest.
“We arrested him in response to a number of accusations made against him by certain petitioners,” he stated.
Being law-abiding, we will take the case to court as quickly as possible and release him once he complies with the bail requirements.
Oyewale responded that the petitions were from many people and that the organization owed them a duty of protection when questioned if the issue had anything to do with Guaranty Trust Bank.
The commission intended to arraign the social media activist, Oyewole continued.
There will be more.
