Eric Chelle, head coach of the Super Eagles, has traveled to Cairo, Egypt, to support the Flying Eagles in the ongoing 2025 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations.
As stated by Flying Eagles media officer Shariff Abdallah, Eric Chelle is expected to arrive at the team’s base at the Radisson Blu Hotel today, May 5
The Flying Eagles are off to a commendable start in the current under-20 AFCON, securing one win and one draw in their first two games.
On Wednesday, they are preparing for their last group match against the Rising Stars of Kenya at Cairo’s June 30 Stadium. If this match ended in a draw, the seven-time champions would secure a quarter-finals berth.
Morocco’s coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, spoke to the media after his team’s match against the Flying Eagles ended in a scoreless draw. Despite multiple opportunities for Morocco, including significant chances for Zahouani and Arguigue, they failed to score from close proximity. The Flying Eagles also created opportunities of their own; Israel Ayuma took a shot from a distance, and Emmanuel Chukwu came close with a header, but neither posed a threat to the Moroccan goalkeeper.
After the second matchday of Group B, Morocco secured the top spot in the group, sharing four points with Nigeria but leading due to a superior goal difference. Ouahbi acknowledged the difficulties posed by Nigeria in their match, contrary to pre-match expectations of an easy victory. He expressed admiration for the physicality and athleticism of the Flying Eagles. “Some people thought we’d beat Nigeria three or four-nil,” Ouahbi remarked. “But we expected it to be a tough match. They’re physically strong and very athletic. Our boys gave their all.” As both teams look forward, Nigeria will take on Kenya on Wednesday, while Morocco will face Tunisia in another Group B encounter.
