Janet Jackson, the American singer, has stated that she does not see herself as a musical icon.

The singer of ‘That’s The Way Love Goes’ made this comment while accepting her Icon award at the American Music Awards on May 26, 2025, held at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

Janet clarified that she and her family members, including the late ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson, never desired fame.

She emphasized that the family had a unique affection for music and that fame resulted from commitment and hard work.

„Ich betrachte mich nicht als eine Ikone. My family and I never aspired to fame. Our upbringing was different from that. We always had a special fondness for music, dancing, and singing.

She articulated, “Fame resulted from hard work and dedication.”

The Jackson family is an American family of musicians and entertainers from Gary, Indiana.
