Raymond Iliya, 19, won the 17.5-kilometer 2025 Ikogosí marathon, which took place over the weekend in Ekiti State, defeating more than 3,000 rivals. Plateau State residents Francis James and Sadjo Ismael placed second and third, respectively.Blessing Shambor took first place in the female division, followed by Akusho Lydia Thomas in second place and Nvou Gyang Tanko in third. The winners received a cash award of ₦2,000,000, the first runners-up N1,500,000, and the third place finishers ₦1,000,000.Tunde Segun Adeyemi of Otun-Ekiti won first place in the Indigenous male category, followed by Sunday Ijoko of Ijero-Ekiti and Agbalaya Alayande of Ado-Ekiti. Ona Ara Popoola of Ilawe won first place in the indigenous female category, with Imisioluwa Ajayi of Igbemo and Maria Ojanbati of Omuo-Ekiti coming in second and third, respectively. “Ad” Cash prizes ranging from N1,000,000 to N100,000 were also given to the winners and other finishers in the indigenous category. The Ekiti State government, in partnership with the Ikogosi Marathon Initiative, organizes the popular marathon with the goals of highlighting the state’s natural resources, attracting investments, increasing tourism and economic growth, and promoting fitness.
