Bitrus Jayawa and his wife, Mrs. Martha Bitrus, were kidnapped by bandits from a farm in the Katambi hamlet in Kaduna State’s Kachia Local Government Area.
According to Markus Iliya, a Katambi resident, the incident occurred on Monday at 9:12 a.m. when the pair was busy cleaning the property in preparation for cultivation.
He claimed that the victims brought three of their kids to the farm, and that the kids fled as soon as they saw the bandits.
Even the victims’ three children saw the criminals entering the farm before they fled and the bandits pursued the couple, he claimed.
The couple’s kidnapping at a farm in Katambi village on Monday was also confirmed by a community leader who wished to remain anonymous.
He claimed that he promptly notified the security personnel at the Sabon-Kurutu intersection as soon as he received the distress call.
“The bandits had already fled into the forest with the victims before the troops stationed at Kurutu Junction Cool arrived at the farm,” he stated.
DSP Hassan Mansur, a spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, has not officially confirmed the most recent kidnapping because he has not returned calls.
