A former commissioner advises Abia lawmaker to resign immediately due to a suspected broken head.

John Okiyi Kalu, the former Commissioner for Information in Abia State, maintains that Honourable Stephen Ucheonye Akachukwu, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly, sustained a head injury during an altercation with the Majority Leader, Uchenna Okoro Kalu.
Okiyi Kalu further asserted that the widely circulated images and video footage depicting the head injury are authentic and were not generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In a statement released on Wednesday, the former Commissioner alleged that Honourable Akachukwu was untruthful to the Abia populace by publicly denying that a physical confrontation occurred with his colleague, and therefore, should tender his resignation.
“Uchenna brazenly lied to his constituents and Ndi Abia when he publicly claimed that he was not attacked and his head broken. He is still carrying the stitching scars from the incident which happened August 2025 in Aba,” Okiyi Kalu claimed.
The former Commissioner alleged that Akachukwu initiated the conflict during a Labour Party legislators’ caucus meeting at the residence of Honourable Fyne Ahuama in Aba, by throwing his drink at Honourable Okoro in a fit of anger. According to Okiyi Kalu, multiple sources informed him that the injury was inflicted not with a beer bottle, but with a whisky glass cup.
Challenging the AI claims, Okiyi Kalu stated: “Contrary to false claims on AI generation of the pictures, it was actually Honorable Ucheonye that took the pictures, along with the circulating video, and sent the same to Governor Alex Otti who subsequently forwarded to principal officers of the house for whatever reason. Did he send AI generated pictures to the Governor?”
He challenged the injured party to submit himself to an examination by selected members of the Nigeria Medical Association, Abia State branch, along with the press, to confirm if his head was indeed broken and stitched. Okiyi Kalu concluded that it was incorrect to accuse the State opposition of being responsible for posting AI-generated visuals of the purported incident.
