The Safe School Initiative Implementation task force was established by the Nigeria Police Force in Bauchi State in an attempt to bolster school security and shield pupils from increasing security risks.
Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the Commissioner of Police, voiced worry during the Bauchi inauguration on Thursday about the growing number of attacks and criminal activities that target educational institutions nationwide.
He claimed that crimes including banditry, abduction, violent attacks, cultism, drug addiction, and other dangers that could interfere with academic activity and instill fear in kids, instructors, parents, and guardians had made schools more vulnerable.
The Bauchi State Command is still dedicated to maintaining school safety, the police commissioner said, emphasizing that security forces shouldn’t be the only ones responsible for safeguarding educational establishments.
“The Inspector-General of Police directed commands across the nation to strengthen security around schools and educational institutions through proactive policing, inter-agency collaboration, intelligence-led operations, and stakeholders’ engagement in recognition of these challenges,” Aliyu stated.
He clarified that, in accordance with the Inspector-General of Police’s order, state police commands nationwide had formed multi-stakeholder task force committees to support the Safe Schools Initiative’s implementation.
In order to identify susceptible regions, bolster preventive measures, enhance intelligence sharing, set up efficient emergency response procedures, and guarantee that our schools continue to be safe and conducive learning environments, we must cooperate,” he continued.
Members of the committee were exhorted by the police commissioner to perform their duties with a strong sense of duty, dedication, and patriotism.
