The Labour Party has appointed a new leadership structure for its Adamawa State Chapter.
The party established a 14-member state caretaker committee to manage its affairs.
During the inauguration ceremony in Yola on Wednesday, Bishop Esther Gulmu, the Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party, instructed the committee to conduct all party activities in accordance with the provisions of the party’s constitution.
The new committee is chaired by Beatrice Benjamin.
In her acceptance speech, Beatrice promised a structured and purposeful transition, describing the formation of her committee as a necessary step to unify the party and set it on a path toward growth.
She pledged, “We are here not to fight anyone but to build policy, advocacy and to promote democracy, and to be all inclusive and to carry everybody along.” She also sought the members’ support, stating, “Without you, I am not anybody and without your support l can’t go anywhere, so l’m riding on your support and experience.”
The Labour Party in Adamawa State has experienced years of internal conflict, with the former chairman, Nicholas Christopher, frequently facing opposition from party members who challenged his authority.
