The opposition leaders’ alliance to establish a coalition to overthrow President Tinubu in 2027 has been dismissed by well-known singer and activist Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, better known by his stage name Charly Boy.
The People’s Democratic Party, Labour Party, Social Democratic Party, and disgruntled members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC, have formed a coalition ahead of the 2027 election, according to the DAILY POST.
In order to unseat Tinubu in 2027, the opposition leaders, led by former Senate President David Mark, formally embraced the African Democratic Congress, or ADC.
According to the DAILY POST, some Nigerians had doubts about the opposition figures’ intentions, even if the development sparked celebration throughout the nation as opposition reorganized.
In a statement released on Wednesday, well-known Nigerian activist Omoyele Sowore disassociated himself from the movement and called the opposition leaders dishonest.
In a similar vein, Charly Boy said that coalition members are the same “people that sank this country are suddenly singing redemption songs” in a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday night.
The performer emphasizes that “it’s just old wolves in the new agbada,” claiming that the purpose is not about Nigeria but only their egotistical ambitions for power.
“Coalitions are emerging, but we shouldn’t assume that every partnership represents advancement.
Sometimes, the new agbada is just old wolves.
“Are they fighting to take the place of their former adversaries, or are they fighting for you?
Since they’ve changed, are they yelling “enough is enough”? Or because they aren’t the ones who gain anymore?
We require more than simply fresh names. We need people who have the courage to live by new ideals, new visions, and new values. Retaliation is not the focus of 2027. “It’s about saving lives,” he wrote.
