Seriake Dickson, a former governor of Bayelsa State and senator from Bayelsa West, has stated that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is welcoming to politicians impacted by internal conflicts in other parties, especially in light of the ongoing conflicts within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Dickson described the NDC as “clean and unencumbered” by internal conflicts and lawsuits and said the party is presenting itself as a reliable alternative platform for political actors looking for guidance.
His remarks are made in the context of the ADC’s ongoing uncertainty, as its members and leadership have been uneasy due to internal conflicts and regulatory obstacles.
All Nigerians who want change and are now powerless can join our party,” Dickson stated.
The NDC is reaching out to politicians impacted by changes inside their parties, he continued. He added, “The NDC is also available to all politicians who are stranded as a result of the country’s political developments and who need a platform that is clean and unencumbered with any political crisis.”
Since registering with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in February, the party has started erecting structures across the country. Dickson officially joined the party on March 5 in Abuja. As part of the party’s growth initiatives, Dickson later presented a digital membership registration tool.
Dickson emphasized a move away from personality-driven politics while describing the party’s ideology, saying, “The NDC is an ideological party and stands for a new brand of politics of ideas and service.”
He dismissed the party’s detractors, calling them baseless. “Those who spread misinformation and propaganda have not yet seen anything. He declared, “The NDC is here to stay and will mobilize throughout Nigeria.”
Dickson continued, expressing optimism about the party’s future: “No force can halt a concept whose time has come… The NDC will prevail.
In response to Umar Ardo’s criticism, the former governor said that it was unexpected. He made it clear that the NDC was not involved in disagreements pertaining to the Advanced Democratic Alliance (ADA).
Dickson stated, “I am aware of the difficulties he faces in court due to disagreements with other ADA advocates, and the NDC has nothing to do with this.”
He went on to say that after INEC lifted the ban on political party registration, the NDC started the registration process again, and that the appropriate parties were informed of this change.
