The Kaduna State Police Command has started searching for suspects after 210 rounds of 7.56mm ammunition dropped from a moving passenger bus on the Zaria-Funtua highway on Tuesday.
Bystanders reportedly gathered the ammunition quickly and informed security personnel nearby.
In a statement, Kaduna Police spokesman Mansur Hassan said that attempts to locate and capture the vehicle were unsuccessful because the information reached the patrol team too late.
Hassan stated, “Authorities believe the suspects dumped the ammunition after sensing danger due to increased motorized and snap checkpoint patrols by the Command.”
He confirmed that a full-scale search for the suspects is currently in progress.
