On Thursday, Carlos Alcaraz dodged a major upset against compatriot Jaume Munar, securing his place in the Queen’s Club quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-7 (7/9), 7-5 win.
On the hottest day of the year in London, Alcaraz, ranked No 2 globally, had to fight hard in a grueling second-round clash that lasted 3 hours and 26 minutes.
To avoid cramping, Alcaraz drank pickle juice between games and fought back from a 4-2 deficit in the final set before securing his advancement.
