As police stop a kidnapping attempt in Katsina, a security guard is hurt.

According to DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the public relations officer for the Katsina State Police, the command stopped an abduction attempt and retrieved a motorcycle and an AK-47 weapon on Friday.

A statement provided to reporters in Katsina on Monday included this information.

In Faskari LGA, Katsina State, the Katsina State Command successfully stopped a kidnapping attempt, saved one person, found one motorcycle, and seized one locally made AK-47 gun.

In an attempt to kidnap a 23-year-old man from Faskari LGA named Abu Iro, some suspected armed bandits attacked him on May 2, 2025, and severely sliced his head with a machete.

“A joint team of police officers and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), led by the DPO Faskari, promptly arrived to the scene after receiving the complaint, stopping the kidnapping attempt and successfully freeing the victim.

“One locally manufactured AK-47 rifle and a red Boxer motorcycle were successfully retrieved by the security personnel during the operation. Unfortunately, one of the KSCWC members was shot in the right leg. He is responding to therapy at the hospital after being taken there in a hurry.

The goal of the current investigation is to apprehend the suspects. As the inquiry continues, further information will be shared as it becomes available,” the statement read.
