The 16th commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State command, is Abbas Nda Mohammed.
He replaced Bala Bodinga Bawa, who was transferred to the NSCDC’s national headquarters, on Monday.
Before being redeployed to Abuja, Bodinga had been the state’s commandant for just over a month.
With more than 20 years of experience in the Corps, Commandant Mohammed is an accomplished security specialist.
Zone 4 Headquarters, Minna; Head of Operations, NSCDC Kwara State Command; Head of Anti-Vandal Unit, Niger State Command; Area Commander, Kainji LGA; Divisional Officer, Edati LGA; Head of Counter-Terrorism Unit, Zamfara State Command; and several leadership positions within the FCT Command were among the strategic positions he had held.
Abbas was Commandant of Zone 4 Headquarters in Minna prior to his deployment.
Speaking after taking office, the new commandant reiterated the Corps’ dedication to preserving vital infrastructure and national assets, enhancing intelligence-driven operations throughout Kwara state, and protecting people and property.
Abbas emphasized that the leadership will take proactive and decisive measures to combat all types of criminality and cautioned criminal elements, vandals, and economic saboteurs to avoid the state.
“Criminals will not find refuge in Kwara State. He said, “We are ready to implement all required operational tactics to guarantee the safety and security of people and property.
In order to maintain peace and security in the state, Commandant Abbas also promised to improve cooperation with sister security services, traditional institutions, and other stakeholders.
