Following strong showings in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoffs, Barau FC, Wikki Tourists, Warri Wolves, and Kun Khalifa have been promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The two promotion berths from the Northern Conference were taken by Barau FC of Kano and Wikki Tourists. With a commanding 4-0 victory over Yobe Desert Stars in their last group match in Asaba, Wikki Tourists secured their return to the top division after two years.
Hassan’s goal and Wonderson Yakubu’s hat-trick secured the decisive victory, which put Abdu Maikaba’s team atop Conference A with five points. In the playoff final, they will now play the Conference B winners.In the meantime, Barau FC created history by defeating Doma United 2-0 in Ozoro to secure their first-ever NPFL promotion. Usman Maidubji and Shammasu Muhd’s goals propelled the Kano-based team to an unforgettable victory.
