The manager of Barcelona, Hansi Flick, stated that his team’s defeat to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal on Wednesday was due to their lack of luck.
Following the match at Camp Nou, Flick made this statement in his post-match interview.
Diego Simeone’s team had a first-leg edge over the Blaugrana thanks to two goals from Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth.
“We needed to improve our defense on the first goal, and the red card resulted in a goal from a free kick. “We could have performed better,” Flick remarked.
“Despite having one fewer player, we performed effectively in the first and second halves. Despite our best efforts, we were not fortunate today. It’s not finished yet. We’ll fight, we’ll try. Even though the semi-final may seem far off right now, we’ll make an effort to make it.
