Gabriel Suswam, a former governor of Benue State and senator from the Benue North-East Senatorial District, has stated that he plans to run for office again in the general elections of 2027.
During a public event over the weekend, the two-term former governor made the announcement.
Since he “started politics in 1998, the state is a place where the people believe in one party,” according to Suswam, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Benue State was “completely a PDP state for its first sixteen years,” he claimed. They then went on to join the APC after that.
“As a Benue son, I will not deviate from the desires and beliefs of my people. They now adhere to the APC’s values and ideology.
“As a politician, if you are still strong enough to contest an election, you always want to contest elections,” Suswam continued.
“I can currently only run for the Senate. Naturally, the constitution prohibits me from running for governor again, even if I wanted to. I will therefore undoubtedly seek for the Senate.
