Bolaji Ogunmola, a Nollywood actress and filmmaker, has discussed the difficulties of producing films for YouTube, asserting that the platform was not initially intended for motion pictures.
Ogunmolasaid stated in a recent interview with Jay On-Air that creating movies for YouTube viewers is costly and dangerous.
She clarified that fans believed producers made a lot of money from films with millions of views, which isn’t usually the case, and that actors charge high fees.
“Films were never intended for YouTube. The art of film is very costly. For four days, actors are paid between N4 and N5 million. “Maybe N1-2 million at the very least,” she stated.
Ogunmola emphasised that “even the worstfilm on YouTube cost money to make,” urging Nigerians to be constructive in their criticism of YouTube producers.
She went on to say that due to inadequate distribution, Nigeria is the only nation that produces YouTube films.
