Breaking: APC Primary: In Ekiti, police detain armed thugs associated with a serving politician

A serving member of the House of Representatives in Ekiti State is claimed to have funded armed thugs who were apprehended by the police.

Falade Adegoroye Michael, the State Police Commissioner, made the announcement at a press conference on Friday.

Following information about their presence in the state, the suspects—dubbed “armed hoodlums with dangerous weapons” by the police—were taken into custody at the Onikoyi Hotel in Ikun-Ekiti at 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Adekunle Stephen, Boluwaji Ishola, Adepoju Adebayo, Oluwatobi Adeoluwa, Akintunde Emmanuel, Ibitola Babatope, and Adewale Makanjuola were the suspects that were taken into custody; the remaining suspects fled in three different cars.

The police commissioner claims that the suspects admitted to being political thugs employed by a current member of the House of Representatives to sabotage the state’s APC primary elections, which were originally set for May 15, 2026.

“One Beretta pistol, two pump action guns, nine rounds of 9mm live ammunition, substances suspected to be criminal charm, four live cartridges, two Apple laptops, and a Honda Accord car were recovered from them,” the police added.

“Effort is underway to arrest other fleeing gang members and their sponsor,” Falade added, adding that the thugs will face charges in court.

The primary election was originally set for Friday, May 15, but it was later rescheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, according to DAILY POST.
