The prominent musician and social figure, Charly Boy, characterized Nigeria as a deeply disappointing country.
In Nigerian Pidgin English, Charly Boy expressed that “Nigeria has soured,” translating to “Nigeria don Sawa.”
The outspoken artist, who is a native of Imo State, disapproved of the presidency’s choice to include a man he regards as a jester and an extremist among the candidates for ambassadorial roles.
He voiced his confusion over how President Bola Tinubu could proceed with forwarding Omokri’s name to the Senate for approval, considering the extensive amount of anti-Igbo prejudice that the former presidential aide has recently expressed.
In his opinion, nominating Reno is equivalent to approving all the inflammatory statements the Delta-born politician has been making on social media. He stressed that a President committed to national cohesion would not make such a choice “to appoint the jester as an Ambassador.”
His statement on X suggested, “Perhaps Tinubu endorses the offensive material that comes from Reno’s mouth.”
He continued: “Ambassador Reno Omokri, that is an extraordinary mockery of this nation. That is a joke on a continental scale. Setting aside his falsehoods and general lack of intelligence, given the volume of prejudice against the Igbo that Reno Omokri has spewed in recent months, how can anyone who values national harmony appoint the buffoon as an Ambassador.
“It is hard to envision a positive future for this country. Therefore, how could any Igbo person visit an embassy led by Reno with a feeling of acceptance or dignity?
“Some might suggest that since he previously informed the world that Tinubu was a drug trafficker, we should acknowledge him for what he is: an idiot. So, why appoint such a self-serving idiot as an Ambassador?
“Tinubu is deeply disappointing. Why air our nation’s internal problems publicly? Reno represents such soiled undergarments. Tinubu should have rewarded him with some low-profile position, but then again, one cannot be sure.
“Tinubu might be communicating a specific message. Approving the prejudice that Reno personifies. It is a deliberate blow to national unity, the type of action that makes ‘one Nigeria’ sound like a poor movie script.
“Ambassador Reno…Tufiakwa! [An exclamation meaning God forbid]! I will never enter that embassy.”
