A Plateau State cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo of COCIN, reported a horrific attack by Fulani bandits on a hospital in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State.
In a video statement, Rev. Dachomo detailed that on the evening of Saturday, October 17th, armed bandits with AK-47s and other weapons stormed a local hospital. They abducted several girls who were patients and dragged them into a nearby rocky area. The cleric explicitly stated that the attackers isolated the Christian girls from the Muslim girls among the kidnapped victims.
The Christian girls were then gang-raped at gunpoint for over eight hours before managing to escape or being released. Rev. Dachomo emphasized that the Muslim girls were intentionally spared from the sexual violence. The victims eventually made it back to the hospital around midnight, where staff provided critical aid.
Rev. Dachomo condemned the incident, viewing it as a deliberate, religiously motivated attack against Christians, citing this and the simultaneous kidnapping of a local Reverend’s wife as evidence of the perilous situation for Christians in Nigeria.
