The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Motomori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, has authorized the start of online applications for lawyers seeking appointment as Notaries Public of Nigeria.
This move, described as a landmark by the Supreme Court, aims to transform the appointment process for legal practitioners.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Court’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Festus Akande, announced that legal practitioners across the country can now apply for Notary Public status digitally.
The statement read in part: “This pivotal decision highlights the judiciary’s strong commitment to adopting digital innovation, improving efficiency, and increasing accessibility within the legal profession.
“This important development ushers in a new era of convenience and transparency for aspiring Notaries Public.
“Once a paper-heavy process, the new digital platform will simplify submissions, lessen administrative workload, and speed up application reviews.
“Qualified and interested lawyers can now submit their applications via the secure online portal at https://notary.gov.ng.
“This user-friendly platform has been carefully designed to guide applicants through every step, ensuring a smooth and easy experience,” it added.
