The manager of Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso, has drawn a comparison between midfielder Fede Valverde and Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard.
During their professional football careers at Liverpool, Alonso and Gerrard were teammates.
In the wake of Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Pachuca in the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday, Alonso spoke and referred to Valverde as an ‘incredible’ player.
Remember that Valverde scored while the Los Blancos triumphed over the Mexican side.
In his post-match interview, Alonso stated: “Fede Valverde is a profile akin to Steven Gerrard.
“All coaches would love to have a Fede Valverde on their team. He is amazing. ”
Valverde will be hoping to maintain his impressive performance for Real Madrid in their upcoming match against RB Salzburg on Friday.
