Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), issued a stern warning that individuals who have defected from the NNPP or the Kwankwasiyya movement will face significant political repercussions during the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso delivered this cautionary statement in an interview with BBC Hausa, conducted as part of the ongoing activities commemorating his 69th birthday. The former Governor of Kano State asserted that those abandoning the movement are doing so at their own political risk, emphasizing that the Kwankwasiyya political project is committed to penalizing acts of betrayal.
“Presently, if anyone presumes they can switch allegiance and still succeed in winning an election in Kano, that individual is merely deluding themselves. Our movement is resolute in taking action against those who betray its trust,” he declared.
The former legislator clarified that his underlying political philosophy is not motivated by antagonism but is strictly driven by adherence to core principles and loyalty.
