Didier Bodembo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s minister of sports, promised that Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal, would cry when the two teams faced off in the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage.
DR Congo recently earned a spot in this year’s World Cup competition, which will take place in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
The African team will play Portugal, Uzbekistan, and Colombia in Group K of the World Cup.
“We battled hard to qualify for the World Cup; it wasn’t easy.
“Cristiano Ronaldo will be crying during our opening match at the 2026 World Cup,” Bodembo stated (via GOAL).
The 41-year-old Ronaldo is anticipated to play for Portugal in what may be his final World Cup competition.
