Garba Lawal, a former winger for Nigeria, has offered his opinion on why Paul Onuachu becomes a scoring machine for Trabzonspor but remains silent for the Super Eagles.
This season, Onuachu has been unstoppable in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring 22 goals to assist Trabzonspor move up to third place.
But in 34 Super Eagles caps, the 31-year-old only managed four goals.
Lawal said Footy Africa, “People need to understand that playing for your country is a completely different challenge.”
“With the national team, you don’t have time to gel and you run the risk of being dropped if you don’t produce right away. At club level, you have the luxury of time and consistent minutes to find your rhythm.”
