Draper beats Popyrin to reach Queen’s last eight

Jack Draper, the British number one, managed to overcome a challenging last-16 match against Alexei Popyrin after being down a set, thus maintaining his hopes of winning his first title at Queen’s.

Draper had easily won his opening match against Jenson Brooksby on Tuesday, leading to hopes that he could emulate Andy Murray and win his home tournament.

The gruelling encounter in the west London sun went the distance but Draper came out on top in a thrilling third-set tie-break to progress 3-6 6-2 7-6 (7-5).
