The Department of State Services, DSS, has warned Nigerians against dealing with one Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed officer allegedly using the agency’s name to defraud unsuspecting individuals.
In a statement released on Monday, the DSS disclosed that Godwin was dismissed from the Service but has continued to pose as a serving officer while carrying out fraudulent activities.
According to the agency, the ex-officer has been using the DSS name to extort money from the public under different pretences. The statement urged citizens to steer clear of any dealings with Godwin or anyone claiming to be linked with him.
The DSS advised that all legitimate enquiries, complaints, and requests should be directed through its official communication channels—phone number 09088373515 and the Service’s official email address.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and accountability, the DSS cautioned that anyone impersonating the agency or engaging in actions that could damage its reputation would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
