Due to an injury, Nigerian defender Benjamin Fredrick will not play in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. While training with FC Dender of the Belgian Pro League, Fredrick suffered a knee injury. The 20-year-old played for Nigeria against Gabon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs. Under Eric Chelle, the emerging star has started the last six games for Nigeria.Due to the injury, the versatile defender was unable to play in Dender’s 2-1 triumph over Royal Antwerp last weekend. After the AFCON, Fredrick is anticipated to resume playing.
