One of the party’s candidates, Mr. Ghani Arobo, has challenged the All Progressives Congress primary results for the House of Representatives, which were held in the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency of Ondo State.
The APC House of Representatives Primary Election Committee named Mr. Kayode Ijalana the winner of the election on Saturday, with 7,098 votes, while Arobo received 75. The procedure took place at Owo, the state’s Owo Local Government Area headquarters.
Mr. Ayo Ilevare, the Director General of the Ghani Rotimi Arobo Campaign Organization, claimed in a statement that the process was tainted by anomalies and called it an attack on democracy.
The campaign organization claims that the results were manipulated and falsified prior to the announcement.
“The so-called results that have been paraded represent nothing but a sham deliberately cooked up to subvert the sovereign will of the people,” the statement said in part. Since it is an attack on the democratic process rather than democracy, we reject it in its totality. notwithstanding the party’s national secretariat’s best efforts to strengthen internal democracy.
“We vehemently oppose any attempt to impose a result that is at odds with the actual will of the people we have. This disproves the overwhelming mandate that was freely issued on the ground. To be clear, we had representatives at every polling place and voting location. We won by a wide margin and without a doubt.
Owo-Ose residents united to demand real representation, a revitalized sense of hope, and the release of our constituency from its present state of powerlessness. Improved representation should be sent by our people, not forced upon them. That sacrosanct mandate cannot be shortened or revoked by any amount of manipulation, result-falsification, or backroom bargains.The campaign group cautioned that the purported results manipulation was against the law, unethical, and the people’s democratic will.
