Danlami Hayyo, the Mandate Secretary for the FCT Education Secretariat, has projected that Nyesom Wike’s administration will complete renovations for 60 to 70 percent of public secondary schools in the territory by the first quarter of 2026. Speaking in Abuja following his return from a three-week suspension, Hayyo noted that over 100 schools have already been fully rehabilitated, marking an unprecedented level of infrastructural development in the FCT’s history. He expressed gratitude for his reinstatement and pledged his continued loyalty to the minister’s vision for the education sector. Addressing the reasons behind his recent disciplinary action, Hayyo clarified that his suspension stemmed from an unauthorized security circular issued by a director without proper clearance. He emphasized that department heads must adhere to official protocols and announced that his immediate priority would be to implement refresher training for directors to ensure they understand their mandates and the chain of command. Hayyo, who had been suspended on November 25 due to the unauthorized school closure order, officially resumed his duties on December 17.
