The Inter-Governmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA) has allocated $650,000 (more than N1bn) to civil society organizations (CSOs) between 2024 and 2025 as part of its campaign against money laundering in West Africa. This funding aims to enhance awareness of money laundering and terrorism financing in the sub-region.
The grants included $350,000 in 2024 and $300,000 awarded to 12 CSOs in the region “to create massive awareness and advocacy around assets recovery and management” within the member-states.
