Eight people have been detained by the Lagos State Police Command in relation to a string of cult-related murders that have occurred at Yaba College of Technology and in the neighborhood.
The arrests came after an intelligence-led operation on April 29, 2025.
The suspects, who are thought to be connected to violent cult activities in the area, were successfully captured by the tactical operatives involved in the operation, according to a statement issued by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s public relations officer.
“In an intelligence-led operation on April 29, 2025, tactical operatives of the Lagos State Police Command arrested eight suspects involved in several cult-related killings within Yaba College of Technology and its environs,” the statement said in part.
Two combat axes, two cutlasses, one cartridge, four 9mm rounds, and a Beretta pistol were found.
“The suspects that were arrested are: Mayor Samson’m’ aged 28, Basit Ishola’m’ aged 20, Quadri Sikiru’m’ aged 26, Mariam Salihu ‘F’ aged 23, Afeez Enitan’m’ aged 28, Ayomide Daniel’m’ aged 30, Olamilekan Adeagbo’m’ aged 26 aka Skinny, and Adeyemo Abdulsamad’m’ aged 24 aka Cloud.
Police found a number of weapons on the suspects during the operation, including two battle axes, two cutlasses, four 9mm rounds, one cartridge, and a Beretta pistol.
In order to determine the entire degree of their involvement in cult activities and related offenses, Hundeyin disclosed that an investigation is currently underway.One Beretta pistol, four 9mm rounds, one cartridge, two combat axes, and two cutlasses were among the items found on the suspects during the operation. The full scope of the suspects’ involvement in cult-related activities is still being investigated.
However, the command has assured the public that the arrested suspects will face the full consequences of the law.
“Members of the public are assured that the suspects will be made to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement added.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the swift response and excellent execution of the operation by the Command’s tactical teams and Eko Strike Force.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police to ensure prompt action.
