Ekiti Queens fined N2.5 million and exiled to Abeokuta

The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has fined Ekiti Queens N2.5 million for attacking match officials during Wednesday’s home game against Edo Queens and mandated that the team play their home games in Abeokuta. Atume Doosuur scored the game-winning goal for Edo Queens in the 67th minute, and Ekiti Queens lost the Matchday Three match 1-0. The incident was characterized by the NWFL as a major violation of league safety and conduct rules. The Moshood AbiolaSports Arena in Abeokuta will host the Ekiti Queens’ next three home games as part of their punishment. The NWFL emphasized that all clubs in the league are expected to be deterred by the fines. After drawing once and losing twice this season, the Ekiti Queens are yet to score a victory in the NWFL.
