Actor Emeka Ike has accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s media assistant Lere Olayinka of disclosing his information via the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) portal.
Ike stated that he was ready to take action against the minister’s assistant during an appearance on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief.”
Recall that Ike, running on the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) platform, lost the House of Representatives primary for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
After disclosing Ike’s voter details via an INEC administrative webpage, Olayinka recently faced harsh criticism from Nigerians.
Ike had previously registered to vote in Imo State before moving his registration to the Federal Capital Territory on May 15, according to a statement made by the minister’s assistant on his X handle on Saturday.
He allegedly included two photos with the message, which many people thought had information from INEC’s administrative login portal.
Ike’s application number, registration center, Voter Identification Number, VIN, profile photo, name, and application date were among the private details revealed in the screenshots.
In response, Ike called Olayinka’s move “shocking” and “the height of political rascality.”
“A government official accessing a citizen’s information from the INEC online is really alarming, outrageous, and the pinnacle of political rascality.
“It tells you a lot, demonstrates how much impunity we have flying around there, and people have access to things they shouldn’t have access to. That’s quite deplorable, and I see that as a huge insult and slap on every political party and every Nigerian.”
“He is telling every Nigerian that I can get your information from anywhere and do whatever I want, and that rascality needs to be stopped,” he stated.
The actor declared that he was prepared to confront Olayinka for disclosing his personal information to the public.
“I’m prepared to confront him; the actions are ready. He has no right to violate my private and denigrate Nigerians in such a manner. This should be the last time he does it if he has previously done it, he continued.
