EPL: Amorim aims to sell 50% of the Manchester United squad – Rio Ferdinand

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has claimed that manager Ruben Amorim is looking to get rid of up to 50 per cent of the current squad.

The Red Devils’ poor season in the Premier League continued on Sunday, with a 2-0 home defeat by West Ham.

The result left Amorim’s team rooted to 16th in the standings.

Since the Portuguese tactician has taken charge, United have recorded just six wins in 25 league games, with their most recent victory being against relegated Leicester City on March 16. Ferdinand has stated that Amorim would like to get rid of approximately half of the current players. He also mentioned that Amorim requires a minimum of two transfer windows to assemble a squad capable of executing his vision. “I think he looks around the dressing room and thinks, ‘If I could wave a magic wand, at least 50 per cent of this team wouldn’t be here in the next five years,’” he said on Rio Presents. “Because they’re not good enough and don’t fit the way he wants to play.”
