EPL: Lebouef defends Chelsea manager Maresca, saying it’s unfair because Mourinho did the same.

Frank Lebouef, a former Chelsea player, has defended manager Enzo Maresca following the Italian’s dismissal during the Blues’ 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Premier League over the weekend.

Remember how Estevao’s goal in the 96th minute gave Chelsea the victory over Arne Slot’s team?

Maresca was caught on camera sprinting down the touchline to celebrate with his teammates and the home crowd after Estevao’s score set off wild celebrations at Stamford Bridge.

The referee showed Marescawa a second yellow card.Anthony Taylor following his wild celebration and his return to the dugout.

However, due to his red card, the former Leicester City manager did not attend the post-match press conference; instead, Willy Caballero, his assistant, did.

Speaking on the development, Lebouef maintained that the referee’s ruling was unjust and mentioned that Jose Mourinho, the former manager of Chelsea, had before celebrated crazy.

Lebouef stated on ESPN that “coaches are human, especially with the pressure that they are under.”

“He [Maresca] did nothing wrong; he was simply enjoying himself with his teammates, not making fun of the opposition. I recall witnessing that with Jose Mourinho and other others in the past.

It would have been [unfair] for anyone else, not just the Chelsea coach, which is why I believe it was unfair.
