Edwin van der Sar, a former goalkeeper for Manchester United, has predicted that the club will win the Premier League title next season.
The Dutch goalkeeper, a veteran of Old Trafford, thinks his old club would secure the title ahead of Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
The ex-player for the Netherlands made no attempt to justify his stance but emphasized that it was time for United to be crowned.
In a chat with LiveScore TBRFootball, he was asked to pick his favourite to win the trophy next season and Van der Sar quickly overlooked the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City.
Van der Sar’s prediction stunned everyone following the Red Devils poor run of form.
Asked who will win the league in the coming season, he replied “Manchester United.”
The Dutchman had earlier spoken about Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, urging the Red Devils to stick with him.
Manchester United had a season to forget last term, finishing 15th in the Premier League table.
The Red Devils, however, made it to the final of the Europa League but were beaten by league rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
