BREAKING: Kano Governor demands removal of police commissioner, accuses him of sabotaging state authorities

The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dismiss the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, accusing him of disregarding lawful orders and undermining his authority as the state’s Chief Security Officer.

Governor Yusuf made the appeal during the 65th Independence Anniversary celebration held at Kofar Mata Stadium in Kano.

Expressing his frustration, the governor claimed that police officers under CP Bakori’s command withdrew from providing security at the event despite clear instructions he personally gave to the commissioner.

“The Commissioner of Police has embarrassed us with his conduct,” Yusuf stated. “His actions are unprofessional, unethical, and completely contrary to what is expected of a security chief on such a significant day for the people of Kano and Nigeria as a whole.”

The governor emphasized that the commissioner’s behavior is unacceptable and warned that his continued presence in Kano hinders effective security coordination in the state.

“On behalf of myself as Chief Security Officer, and on behalf of the good people of Kano State, I call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori immediately,” Yusuf declared.
