Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State formally presented the 2025 Supplementary Budget to the State House of Assembly, received by Speaker Alfred Emberga, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
The submission is a comprehensive revision of votes for the approved 2025 fiscal plan, necessary to address unexpected and critical financial obligations that arose after the initial budget passage. Governor Alia clarified that the overall ₦550.1 billion budget size remains the same, but specific allocations have been adjusted to reflect new realities and priorities in areas like Human Capital Development, Food Security, and the Digital Economy.
The revised plan provides greater funding to improve educational infrastructure, enhance healthcare systems, support irrigation and agricultural productivity, invest in road construction and essential utilities, and increase resources for security and public safety. The Governor stressed that the ratio continues to favor capital investment and appealed to the lawmakers for prompt approval, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability. Following the presentation, the House referred the budget to the Appropriation Committee for detailed legislative action.
