Prior to the Leverkusen encounter, Guardiola gave a statement at his pre-match press conference on Monday. Mateo Kovacic and Rodri, two midfielders, are still recuperating from injuries. Guardiola’s team enters the match after losing to Newcastle United 2-1 in the Premier League over the weekend.Guardiola told reporters, “Not for tomorrow, [Apart from them] everyone else is ready for tomorrow,” when asked if Rodri and Kovacic would be prepared for the Leverkusen match. Under Guardiola, Manchester City won the Champions League once, in 2023, after defeating Inter Milan 1-0 in the championship game.
