Oladele Bankole-Balogun, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), revealed Thursday that the organization made N52.6 billion from January to June 2025.
He told reporters in Benin that the 52.2 billion was an 89.5 percent performance, or half-year target of N58.8 billion for the fiscal year 2025.
According to Bankole-Balogun, the N52.6 billion was 46% more than the N36.1 billion made over the same time period in 2024. The service generated N10.4 billion in January, N9.6 billion in February, N6.9 billion in March, N6.9 billion in April, N7.8 billion in May, and N11.05 billion in June, he said, providing a breakdown of the money generated during the previous six months. He pointed out that our performance was largely dependent on the degree of compliance of taxes, including private citizens, businesses, and government MDAs. In order to create a sustainable Edo State, he said, the service is dedicated to providing value-added services, enhancing transparency, and fortifying the tax structure.
