Terkaa Melai, the most seasoned goalie for the Lobi Stars, claims that many young Nigerians were encouraged to pursue goalkeeping duties by the exceptional abilities and admirable lifestyle of the late great Nigerian goalkeeper Peter Rufai.
The legendary goalie, who played for the Super Eagles in the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA and the winning 1994 AFCON team, passed away yesterday at the age of 61.
βThe news of the untimely demise of the legendary Peter Rufai came to me as a rude shock. In my own little way, I tried to show my concern by writing on my Facebook page to condole with the football fraternity in Nigeria and the bereaved family, asking God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
