Popular Nigerian Afrobeat star, Spyro has disclosed that he experienced a career setback after collaboration with Davido and Mayorkun. Speaking during his recent interview on HipTV, Spyro explained that he thought that his collaboration with Davido would boost his career.
Spyro reportedly included Davido in the 2018 remix of his song “Funke.” Recounting the experience, the singer said that even though the song was initially successful, he encountered unforeseen setbacks, including losing contact: “I had a song back then, that I had Davido and Mayorkun on it. I actually thought that my life was about to change. The song came out big, and I went back down all of a sudden.” “I sat down and thought about it because how do I go from working with Davido, vibing with Mayorkun and all those guys, and all of a sudden, they no longer even pick your calls anymore?”
Back then, I would just sit on my stairway and cry because I had to take care of my parents at home and a lot of things were just going wrong.
Spyro, who rose to fame in 2022 following the release of his smash song “Who Is Your Guy,” has also collaborated on songs with Simi and Tiwa Savage.
