The father of Big Brother Naija All Stars winner Ilebaye Odiniya, Emmanuel Godson Odiniya, has discussed the conflict between him and his daughter, claiming that she declined to provide him with financial support during a medical emergency.
Journalist Jeremiah Promise Enemona Ocheme posted an audio clip of Mr. Odiniya’s statements on social media on Sunday. According to reports, he is being treated at an Abuja hospital.
In the audio, Ilebaye’s father stated that he was instrumental in rallying support for the reality star during her Big Brother Naija All Stars contest, which she ultimately won.
He claims that he used his social and political contacts to persuade a large number of voters in Kogi State and elsewhere to support her during the contest.
“I saw a lot of things going wrong with her when it comes to the issue of appreciating what they did for you when you were in Big Brother,” he stated. I made extensive use of my power to persuade Kogi State residents and others to vote for my daughter. Even several state governors and my colleagues contributed funds that went toward purchasing the IUC.
Mr. Odiniya added that following the reality show, he expected his daughter to publicly thank and credit people who helped her along the way, particularly those from the Kogi community, but she refused.
The reality TV star’s father further claimed that Ilebaye had regularly insulted and humiliated him over the years, despite being one of his favorite children. Additionally, he asserted that there were times when their arguments turned physical.
He further claimed that the reality star had once counseled him to divorce her mother and accused her of exposing her younger brother to drug misuse, which he said subsequently led to behavioral problems at school.
Speaking about what he called their most recent argument, Mr. Odiniya claimed that he asked his daughter for financial support before a scheduled medical trip to Dubai.
He claimed that because the anticipated funds had not yet arrived, he had asked her to lend him money temporarily, but she had allegedly refused.
“The most recent one that I was unhappy about was when I was supposed to go for a medical check-up in Dubai,” he stated. “I’m lacking resources, please borrow me a certain amount of money, the money I’m expecting hasn’t come,” I said to my daughter. According to my daughter, she doesn’t have any money.
“Come see how my daughter was spraying bundles of money at the wedding of one of her coworkers, who they call Cross, a week prior to that.”
That is not the issue, he continued. If my daughter helps her coworkers, I will be pleased, but what about your dad? Is it wrong if you assist your father?
This happened after Odiniya was arrested for allegedly assaulting his daughter at their home in Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja.
A viral video of Ilebaye crying and clearly swollen during the argument went viral online on Saturday, drawing a lot of attention to the event.
Josephine Adeh, a spokesman for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, confirmed the event and stated that the police received a distress call about an alleged assault early on Friday morning.
“On May 9, 2026, at approximately 12:00 a.m., the FCT Police Command responded to a distress call from Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja, reporting an ongoing physical assault on Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya Emmanuel by her father, Honourable Emmanuel Odiniya,” she stated.
The police spokeswoman said that Wuye Division officers and Department of Operations personnel were sent to the area right away.
The residence’s gate was locked when the authorities arrived. At around 2:30 a.m., entrance to the facility was finally obtained after multiple tries. The statement said, “Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya, who was discovered with obvious bruises, was rescued with her brothers and taken to NNPC Hospital Abuja, where she received medical attention.”
According to Adeh, Odiniya was still being held by the police while the incident’s circumstances were being looked into.
The conflict began when Ilebaye came to the family home to meet her younger brothers and talk about plans for her 24th birthday celebration, according to the children’s mother, Mrs. Lami, who is allegedly at odds with her husband.
She claims that after the father allegedly accused the reality TV star of being influenced by her mother, the conversation turned into a fight.
Following the dissolution of the couple’s 32-year marriage, the incident has also brought the family’s long-running domestic conflict back into the public front.
According to reports, Mrs. Lami revealed that a court had previously given their father custody of the two boys, who were 11 and 14 years old.
Ilebaye has not yet addressed her father’s accusations.
