The dangerous practice of mixed loading by articulated vehicles throughout the state has been the focus of a significant enforcement effort by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Sector Command.
In an attempt to reduce life-threatening infractions on Nigerian highways, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed issued stringent orders that are followed by the crackdown.
The operation was characterized as a significant step to address widespread non-compliance with safety standards, especially during the ongoing Easter special patrol, according to a statement issued by Corps Public Education Officer Osondu Ohaeri.
The statement claims that a number of articulated vehicles carrying a hazardous combination of people, animals, and cargo were stopped along important transportation routes.
Over 100 people have occasionally been seen crowded in with livestock and freight, greatly raising the possibility of deadly collisions.
Speaking on the development, Mohammed strongly denounced the behavior.
“On Nigerian highways, mixed loading is a ticking time bomb.” Vehicles become moving death traps as a result of this heinous infraction, he said.
He emphasized that the Corps would continue the enforcement campaign and make sure that violators are prosecuted in compliance with traffic laws.
The FRSC warned that any kind of mixed loading puts lives in danger and will not be allowed, urging drivers and transport operators to carefully adhere to safety requirements.
