Three persons were killed and numerous more were injured when bandits raided the settlements of Lanta, Tunga, and Bagna in the Erena Ward of the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to reports, the attack started at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Bagna, the hometown of former Niger State Commissioner for Internal Security Emmanuel Umar, and then expanded to nearby towns.
Although casualties were thought to be significant, the precise number had not yet been verified due to the ongoing tension, a source in Bagna informed Daily Trust.

Three bodies have been found so far. Numerous others suffered various degrees of injuries. Erena town, the only surrounding municipality deemed reasonably safe, has seen a large influx of refugees. The insider stated, “We are pleading with the government to save us.”
Barrister Maurice Bello Magaji, the Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security, texted our correspondent to confirm the occurrence.
“Yes, the state is collaborating with security forces and has received reliable information,” he stated.
