Femi Falana has been under fire from his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, for his silence about the arrest of Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), a controversial social media pundit.
Adeyanju questioned the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in a recent statement, asking why Falana had not denounced the arrest or defended his client, VDM.
He also made reference to a similar circumstance that occurred under Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, claiming that, despite being a target himself, he was the first to oppose the case.
Femi Falana SAN, our esteemed mentor and leader, has not yet denounced VDM’s detention. Indeed, these are interesting times. On Monday, May 5, Adeyanju posted on his 𝕏 handle.
Adeyanju remembered, “I was the first to condemn it when the boy who led people to attack me under Buhari became a victim under the same Buhari and was arrested.”
Dele Oyewale, the spokesman for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), revealed in a statement on Monday that VeryDarkMan was arrested after receiving petitions from multiple people alleging cyberstalking.
basemedia News reports that VDM’s arrest has caused a lingering controversy with celebrities and influencers calling for his release, while others have taken to the streets of Abuja to protest on his behalf.
Meanwhile, barely two weeks ago, Deji Adeyanju claimed that the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his counterpart in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, worked for President Bola Tinubu in the last election.
He asserted that Obi is likely to work for Tinubu again and will most probably refuse to join the coalition.
Speaking via a post shared on his 𝕏 page, Adeyanju disclosed what must be done for the coalition by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to succeed.
He argued that all self-centred politicians like Atiku and Obi must be neutral and not run in 2027.
According to Adeyanju, “I’m 100% convinced that Obi worked for Tinubu in 2023 & will do so again. I might be wrong, but I’m convinced in my mind about this.
“Once a businessman, always a businessman man. Those still in doubt will see the clear handwriting before 2027. He will refuse to join the coalition.
Kwankwaso was employed by Tinubu as well. All of the self-centered politicians, including Atiku and Obi, should pledge not to run and let impartial candidates challenge Tinubu if the coalition is to succeed.
“This is how you prioritize the good of the country before your own interests. Politics is Africa’s largest industry.
And everyone in the vicinity of well-known politicians is a businessperson. For this reason, they get into business as soon as politics is imminent. scammers that are only out to make money. They never tell politicians the truth because of this.
