‘It doesn’t make sense’ – Ronaldo explains why he turned down offers to participate in the Club World Cup

Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo has at last revealed the rationale for his choice to remain with Al Nassr.

The 40-year-old forward mentioned that he was maintaining his fitness for next year’s FIFA World Cup and for his club.

Ronaldo mentioned that he received offers to participate in the current FIFA Club World Cup but opted to remain with Al Nassr.

The Portuguese said he needed to get some rest before the start of another season.

The football goal king spoke after signing a new deal with Al Nassr, adding that it was all about preparing for next season and keeping fit for the FIFA World Cup.

He said as quoted by ESPN, “I had some offers to play [Club] World Cup but I think it didn’t make sense because I prefer to have a good rest, a good preparation, because this season will be very long, because this is the season of the World Cup, at the end of the season.

“So I want to be ready not only for Al Nassr but also for the national team. This is why I want to stay, because I believe in the project.”

Ronaldo’s new deal at Al Nassr will keep him at the club until 2027
